The City of Auburn has been awarded a planning grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative (LCI). Over the next six months, an updated plan will be prepared for downtown Auburn and immediately surrounding areas. TSW, an Atlanta-based planning consulting firm, has been hired to manage the process, which is being called, “Define Our Auburn, An LCI Study.”
The goal of “Define Our Auburn” is to create a vision for the future of downtown Auburn—a vision that will grow the local economy, encourage appropriate development, make walking and biking easier, and revitalize historic downtown. It will include a short-term Action Plan that will serve as guide for local stakeholders to implement the plan.
The input of local citizens is crucial to ensure the success of the LCI Study. For this reason, several community meetings have been scheduled to solicit public input. The first of these, a Public Kickoff Meeting and Workshop, will be held on March 19th and will include an overview of the planning process
and engagement activities to gather additional feedback. Light refreshments
will be provided.
