Citizens Police Academy

The Citizen's Police Academy is an interactive 10-week program that runs on Tuesday nights from 6:00pm till 9pm around August of every year. Participants get a chance to interact with police department employees, everyone from the Chief of Police to detectives and even our beloved K-9. Topics of discussion include, K-9 operations and narcotics, crime scene processing, traffic enforcement, shooting simulator, tour of the Gwinnett County Jail, SWAT, building clearing, domestic violence, and gun range to name just a few.

We encourage all your questions and seek to provide an environment where the community can become not only better engaged with our agency but more knowledgeable about the inner workings of law enforcement as opposed to what is usually pushed out through other forms of media. You do not have to be an Auburn resident to take the class, it is open to all residents of other counties. Students must be 18 years old to sign up for the class and MUST attend 8 of the 10 sessions to graduate at the end. If you cannot commit to these courses, please hold off on signing up and come back when your schedule is more free. We want you to have the best experience possible and that only happens when you can attend all 10 classes. Do not worry if you can't make this one, we hold academies every year around August. The Auburn Police Department has hosted this class since 2012 and It is one of the best citizen academies around!

Please check our Facebook page  Auburn Georgia Police Department | Facebook for academy dates and how to sign up!
